Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State
The Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has ruled out the possibility of returning the monthly sanitation in the state.
LAWMA Managing Director/CEO, Dr Muyiwa Gbadegesin, stated this during an interview on Channels Televisions Sunrise, a breakfast show that aired on Saturday.
It is not coming back for now, he said when asked if the monthly sanitation that restricts movement is coming back.
Rather than the monthly sanitation, Gbadegesin said the state government has embarked on a weekly environmental sensitisation.
He said LAWMA is working closely with the officials of the State Ministry of Environment and Water Resources led by Dr Tokunbo Wahab as well as the Lagos Parks and Garden, Lagos Waste Water Management Office in that regard.
We continue to do that every single week. We continue doing that until a time that we then begin a monthly environmental sanitation, he said.
On the benefit of the campaign, the LAWMA said the state government has succeeded in creating a greater level of awareness among residents, especially those that troop into Lagos on a daily basis.
The LAWMA boss also cautioned Lagos residents against the indecent disposal of waste in the nations commercial hub. (Channels TV)
