Nigerias hope for a medal at the ongoing Paris Olympics games, dimmed on Friday morning following a double disaster.
While the strongest medal hope, Tobi Amusan, crashed out of the tournament, the mens 4x400m relay team got disqualified.
The 27-year-old Amusan, who filed out in lane six of the first heat of the event, on managed to place third in the semi-finals of the women 100m hurdles.
The current world champion and world record holder came behind United States Alayasha Johnson, who had a record of 12:34 seconds and Netherlands Nadine Visser with a record of 12:43 seconds.
In yet another disappointing development, the quartet of Emmanuel Ojeli, Ezekiel Nathanial, Dubem Amene, and Chidi Okezie, have been disqualified from the mens 4x400m relay.
Nigeria is yet to win a medal of any colour at the Games which end in two days time.
