Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has congratulated elder statesman and former Interim President of Nigeria, Chief Ernest Shonekan, as he reaches the milestone age of 80 on Monday, May 9.
While congratulating Chief Shonekan, the Ogun State Governor described him as “an epitome of service to humanity and commitment to the socio-economic development of Nigeria.”
He added that Chief Shonekan’s contributions to national development both in the private and public sector remains highly commendable and easily recommends him as one of the pride of Ogun State and by extension, Nigeria.
“Beyond your exploits in the private sector, the public sector also benefitted immensely from your wide ranging experience as a seasoned administrator, particularly when you served as the Head of the Interim National Government in Nigeria in 1993,” Governor Amosun said in a statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant (Media) Adejuwon Soyinka.
“The remarkable impacts you made during that period left no one in doubt about your unusual strength of character and unparalleled passion for the development and integration of our dear nation,” he added.
The governor prayed that God continues to bless the former President with long life, good health and sound mind.
