Britain vows ‘to export gay marriage around the world’

Beware Nigeria and Nigerians! Steel yourselves for the heavy war ahead in your opposition to gay relations as your former colonial master Britain has vowed to ensure that gay marriage is accepted and recognised around the world, including in Africa.

Beating his chest yesterday at a reception for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans-sexual community at 10 Downing Street, British Prime Minister David Cameron spoke of his eagerness “to export” gay marriage around the world.

Cameron, who with his team of ministers behind the gay legislation, signed a copy of the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act 2013, spoke of his pride at legalising same sex marriage just a year after explicitly giving a personal guarantee to do it by 2015.

The British leader said four times during his speech that he was very proud to be the Prime Minister in office when same sex marriage was legalised in Britain. His words: “I’m personally proud of this. I think I’m probably the only Conservative Prime Minister who’s taken this step, but I’m very proud to have taken it. I think it’s a really good step, and thank you for helping me to stick with the plan and get it done so quickly.”

Ordaining himself an international apostle of gay marriage, Cameron said: “Many other countries are going to want to copy this. And, as you know, I talk about the global race, about how we’ve got to export more and sell more so I’m going to export the bill team. I think they can be part of this global race and take it around the world.”

News Express reports that gay relations remain a taboo across Africa, including Nigeria, which has stoutly resisted pressures from the West to approve it or face the possibility of reduced aid flow. Gay relations are explicitly condemned by the major relations as well as by African customs and traditions, with stiff penalties awaiting whoever is caught indulging in the unnatural act.
