Early morning fire razes 80 houses in Lagos

An early morning fireon Friday, razed down about 80 make-shift houses on Idowu Bashorun Street in Ikotun, Lagos.

Rescue workers battled from3amwhen the fire started, till dawn, to put out the inferno.

Also, a petrol tanker carrying about 33,000 litres of diesel, fell from the bridge at Anthony Village, Lagos, spilling its products into the premises of Corona School, located by the foot of the bridge.

A combined team of emergency workers from both the Federal and State fire services, as well as officials from the National Emergency Management Agency and Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, battled to dampen the product, to prevent any fire outbreak.

No casualty or fire was outbreak recorded.

Similarly, an inferno at the Isolo office of Afprint industries, which started at about2pm, gutted five warehouses.

NEMA South-west Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Farinloye, who confirmed the incident, said the fire has since been put out. (TVC)
