Economic Challenges: Cultivate the spirit of sacrifice, Okorocha tells Imo workers

The Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has urged all workers in the state to cultivate the spirit of sacrifice in the face of the dwindling economy challenges facing the nation at the moment.

The Governor made the demand on Friday during the swearing in ceremony of the newly appointed Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr George Eche, at the Sam Mbakwe EXCO chambers in Government House Owerri, the capital of Imo State.

Governor Okorocha said the welfare of the workers in the state would remain the utmost priority of his administration.

He stated that all pending salaries and arrears would be resolved accordingly even as the state government had demonstrated love for workers in the state by agreeing with Labour that 70 per cent of every income of the state would go to labour for the payment of salaries and pensions.

In the agreement, 30 per cent of the income would be for the government to carry out capital projects and sundry expenditure.

While also commending and urging Mr Eche to support in the rescue mission of the government, the Governor maintained that the removal of the former SSG, Jude Ejiogu, had nothing to do with misconduct in office, but a way to balance appointment equation and fairness in his administration.

Meanwhile, the New SSG thanked the Governor for the new status promising to do everything within his powers to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of the state. (Channels TV)
