Detained Biafra youth leader released, placed under watch

Deputy President of Biafra Nations Youth League (BNYL), Mr. Ebuta Victor Takon, has been released from police custody in Ikom, Cross River State. His release was confirmed BNYL Etung and Ikom Coordinators, Ajisi Victor and Elvis Nkwam respectively. They said Mr. Ebuta was released around 6pm on Monday and informed them when they visited him that he has been placed under security watch.

Reacting to the development, the President of BNYL, Comrade Prince Chimezie Obuka, said: “He has been freed and cannot be placed under watch because he is only exercising his right. I believe they are not comfortable with our strategic moves because they know where we are heading to and what we are trying to achieve but they will all fail in their bids to stop us.

“They are afraid we will soon start operating like the defeated terrorist group Boko Haram that operates in the border area. We can never be like Boko Haram because we are not blood suckers.

“Let a terrorist be treated like a terrorist and let an activist be given his due respect and be treated like an activist; you don’t investigate someone and detain him for two days. Biafra is an

international issue; it’s a country and not a group or sect.

“On no account should such illegal arrest repeat itself next time otherwise they are looking for trouble.”
