A Magistrates’ court sitting in Kano on Tuesday remanded a 55-year-old labourer, Mu’azu Abdullahi in prison custody for allegedly raping his 16-year-old daughter.

The accused, who lives at Kabuga Quarters Kano, is facing charges of rape and incest.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Haziel Ledafowa told the court that one Sadiya Mu’azu of the same address reported the case to NAPTIP office in Kano State on March 15.

Ledafowa said that about four months ago accused forcefully had unlawful sexual intercourse with his 16-year-old biological daughter at Kabuga Quarters Kano, which caused the victim harm.

He pleaded not guilty to the two count charges.

The presiding judge, Senior Magistrate Hassan Ahmed, ordered the accused to be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case till April 18 for further mention.

The offence contravenes sections 283 and 390 of the penal code. (NAN)
