National Assembly finally lays 2016 Budget, adjourns in honour of late lawmaker

The two chambers of the National Assembly, the Senate and the House of Representatives, finally laid the 2016 Budget on Tuesday morning.

The event had been put off twice in the past as the lawmakers worked to correct the padded budget that has brought monumental embarrassment to the Muhammadu Buhari presidency.

After the budget was laid, both chambers adjourned legislative activities due to the death of Hon. Musa Baba, representing Nasarawa Toto Federal Constituency in the lower chambers.

Lawmakers have been signing the condolence register in honour of their departed colleague the cause of whose death was not immediately clear.

Both chambers of the National Assembly are expected to resume plenary by 10am tomorrow, Wednesday, March 23, 2016.
