Wike, APC trade blames over Rivers rerun election

It seems there is no end in sight to the crisis generated by the conduct of the Rivers State rerun elections.

This time, the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesome Wike, is accusing the opposition party of using security agencies in an attempt to subject the will of the people.

Speaking to reporters in Port Harcourt on Monday, the Governor also debunked claims of the party that his Chief of Staff led an assassination attempt on their leaders.

Instead, he accused the opposition of colluding with security agencies to arrest his Secretary to the State Government and instigate violence during the elections.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State, Davies Ikanya, has called for a review of the entire exercise describing it as a mockery of democracy.

As both parties continue to trade words over the conduct of the rerun elections in the state, the people can only hope for peace and prosperity of their state.

The electoral body has declared results of one federal constituency and nine state constituencies.

The Peoples Democratic Party won the entire constituencies.

Elections were also canceled in eight other local government areas. (Channels TV)
