PDP alleges distribution of fake result sheets for Rivers rerun elections

The Rivers State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has alleged the distribution of fake result sheets in some parts of the state as voting gets underway in today’s rerun State and National Assembly elections in the restive oil-rich state. The party also described as illegal and disobedient to two separate court orders, the use of the army in today’s re-run election by the INEC.

It also condemned “the illegal arrest and detention the PDP LGA Agent and former Chairman of Khana Local Government Area, Hon Greg Nwidam, by the military in Bori and over 1,000 PDP members across the state.”

The PDP, according to the State Chairman, Bro Felix Obuah, last week uncovered plans by the federal-ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to rig the election using the army, men of the SARS and other security agencies. The party had also a plan by APC to print fake result sheets and recruit only APC members as INEC adhoc staff.

A statement issued Jerry Needam, Special Assistant on Media to Bro Obuah, said: “This afternoon by The APC brought into Rivers State from Lagos a printing press for the purpose of printing the fake INEC result sheets.

“The PDP calls for the immediate release of all the PDP members arrested today at various INEC offices in the state and at polling units by the soldiers and men of the SARS.

“According to reports, fake result sheets have been uncovered in Khana, Gokana, Tai, Oyigbo, Opobo, Eleme, Andoni and other Local Government Areas of the State.

“The PDP calls for the investigation, arrest and prosecution of all those behind the circulation of the fake result sheets in Rivers State and the illegal arrest and detention of PDP members.

“The PDP also condemned the moving around irrespective of restriction of movement and use of the Army and men of the SARS for the purpose of rigging the re-run election by Magnus Abe, Barry Mpigi, Rotimi Amaechi and the APC.”
