A middle-aged man, Tope Ekundayo, is to die by hanging for armed robbery following the judgement by an Ondo High Court.

Mr Ekundayo had been standing trial before the court presided by Justice William Olamide for a two-count charge of armed robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery. He was found guilty and subsequently charged.

The convict had carried out the crime at Adebobajo Area of Akure where he robbed one Mrs Mercy Ibekwe of the sum of thirty thousand naira and other valuables at gun point.

He was later apprehended by law enforcement agents.

The trial judge, Justice Olamide Williams, ordered that the convict should die by hanging to serve as deterrent to other criminals.
