Injury has forced out Bayer Leverkusen midfielder, Victor Boniface, from the Super Eagles squad to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Cote dIvoire 2023.
Nice striker Terem Moffi has been pencilled as his replacement subject to theapproval of his French Cluband that of CAF based on the regulations guiding the continentals flagship tournament.
Boniface who missed the two Super Eagles friendly matches against a Dubai-based local side on Sunday and Syli Nationale of Guinea on Monday, reportedly picked a muscular injury in one of the teams training sessions hence was not available for those pre-AFCON friendlies.
Super Eagles Team Media Officer, Babafemi Raji, hinted in the early hours of Tuesday that the injury has put paid tothe ambition of the 24-year-old burly striker the opportunity of playing his first major international tournament for the Super Eagles after taking the German Bundesliga by storm in the current season with an impressive 10 goals before the Winter break.
