The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has warned the general public to be wary of job racketeers swindling unsuspecting job seekers into the security agency.
The newly posted Commandant of the NSCDC, Imo State Command, Mr Dayo Adesuyi, made the call while parading a suspected job racketeer alongside her victims at the command headquarters in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
Mr Adesuyi debunked rumours that the security agency is presently recruiting as peddled by job scammers whose Intention is to swindle members of the public of their money.
He said that anyone caught in the criminal act would face the wrath of the law as the NSCDC would not allow anyone to drag its reputation into the mud by causing havoc in the lives of people.
The Commandant added that if the agency is recruiting, there are official advertisements through reputable medium rather than the fake websites used to swindle members of the public.
He urged the public to report anybody found in this criminal act for immediate prosecution.
Some of the victims who spoke to reporters said that they were swindled about to 750,000 Naira with fake promises of getting them employed into the NSCDC.
In her confession, the suspect job racketeer, Mirian Anyaso, said that it was not her Intention to swindle the victims if not for her friend who lured her into it unknowingly. (Channels TV)
