Nigerian Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen
Victor Osimhens agent Roberto Calenda saidthat he and his clientwere delighted to be staying with Napoli following the official announcement of the strikers contract extension on Saturday, and has shut down rumours that the Nigerian could still be open to a move in the summer.
Osimhen officially put pen to paper on a new deal running until the summer of 2026 on Saturday, in a deal which also includes a release clause for teams outside of Italy.
The release clause, believed to be set in the region of €120m-€130m, is valid for teams outside of Serie A during the summer transfer window, a figure which may not be out of the question for some of Europes wealthier sides.
Calenda gave an in-depth interview in Il Corriere dello Sport, in which he described Osimhens extension as an ˜historic deal for Italian football.
Calenda added that the extension required lots of hard work. He continued: It is recognition for what Osimhen has done and continues to do on the pitch. Hes an extraordinary player.
This year as well, despite his injury, he is scoring. Sometimes its easy to forget that he dragged Napoli to a first league title in 33 years. Along with his teammates, he built something incredible.
Calenda was asked about the release clause in his clients contract, but he refused to provide any further details, asserting that the terms of the contract are confidential.
Meanwhile,Osimhen is now the best paid player at Serie A champions Napoli after his salary was doubled in the new contract he signed.
Both Napoli and Osimhens camp have refused to divulge the details of the new deal.
However, transfer expert Nicolo Schira has reported that Osimhen will now earn between Nine and 10 Million Euros a year as salary and bonuses on account of this contract.
This is double what he earned when he became Napoli record signing in the summer of 2020.
It thus makes him the best paid player at his club.
A release clause of about 130 Million Euros will also offer the striker the chance to quit Napoli should an interested club meet it.
His updated Transfermarkt value is 110 Million Euros. (The Nation)
