A new Speaker emerged yesterday for the Ondo State House of Assembly. He is Hon. Ogundeji Iroju.
The house also elected Hon Ayo Arowele as his deputy.
According to report, 18 out of 26 lawmakers of the House of Assembly carried out the impeachment of the former Speaker, Princess Jumoke Akindele, and her deputy, Hon. Fatai Olotu.
The lawmakers accused Akindele and Olotu of incompetence and high handedness.
It was gathered that the majority leader was also removed for similar reasons.
In his reaction, the former deputy speaker, Hon. Olotu, claimed that he was not aware of the impeachment saga and described the action as illegal.
