IPOB accuses Army, FG of genocide, says they must be brought to book by International Criminal Court

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has accused the Nigerian Army and the Federal Government of Nigeria of genocide and of seeking to destroy the evidence of the heinous act. IPOB levelled the accusation in a statement issued from its global headquarters in Spain over the weekend, in which it frowned at the recent burning of corpses of IPOB members allegedly killed in Aba, South East Nigeria, by security agents and dumped in shallow graves.

“The investigating panel set up by Brigadier-General Ayuba Tedman Mamman was given the mandate to destroy any evidence of crime against humanity which stares the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Government in the face,” the statement signed by IPOB Spokespersons, Barrister Emma Nmezu and Dr. Clifford Chukwuemeka Iroanya, said.

“The world is hereby put on notice that the Nigerian Government and their Commander-in-Chief have tampered with and destroyed the evidence that shows their culpability in genocide and crimes against humanity,” IPOB said, quickly adding: “But we are glad to announce that the pictures and videos are still with our lawyers and the International Criminal Court.”

The statement declared that “Nigerian Army officials and Nigerian Government officials must be brought to book for these atrocities.”
