A 34-year-old Nigerian national was yesterday morning stabbed to death allegedly by his roommate, also a Nigerian, at their Nalasopara home in India.
The victim, Obinna Durumchukwu, was celebrating his 34th birthday on Saturday. He and his roommate were partying at their Agarwal Nagri home in Nalasopara. The party went on till 9am on Sunday. Both were drunk. They got into a fight and hurled empty glass bottles on each other. The roommate picked up one such glass piece lying on the floor and stabbed Obinna on his neck. He died on the spot.
Neighbours who heard the screams alerted the Tuling police. The roommate, whose name is not known yet, has been arrested. Police said that Obinna’s passport had expired on January 24, 2016 and he was staying illegally. The cause of the fight has not been ascertained.
News Express gathers that sometimes cultism-related wars are waged by Nigerian gangs against one another in India just as they occur in Nigeria.
Many Nigerians have emigrated to India recently, with a fast-growing number of them being millennials.
