The Annual Abuja Jazz Festival which debuts tomorrow, June 29, is assured of a memorable take-off following the confirmation that the event would be headlined by the international jazz star Stephane Wrembel and his group.
“The event,” according to the organisers, “will start at noon with workshops with Abuja musicians and Wrembel, followed by a joint concert at 3pm. The venue is the Abuja Pavilion by the International Conference Centre, across from the Radio House, Garki 11.”
The organizers in a statement made available to News Express said that “internationally acclaimed guitarist and composer Stephane Wrembel is bringing his jaw-dropping talent, palpable musical rapport with His Band, and vivid and textured compositions to life at the Abuja Jazz Festival and other unique public and private performances and workshops, as part of the U.S. Jazz Envoy’s tour of Nigeria, under the U.S. State Department’s “International Language of Jazz for Peace” programme.”
The festival expected to put the Nigerian capital city on the world jazz map is being organised by the United States Mission in collaboration with the FCT Administration, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and National Orientation, and the Open Mic Forum.
