JAMB candidates allege extortion, call for investigation

Some candidates who wrote the ongoing computer-based examination of the Joint Amissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) yesterday alleged that they were asked to pay N1,000 “security fee” before they could be admitted in the examination

The students further alleged that the fee was subsequently reduced to N500 and N200 even as the candidates pleaded with the collectors that they had no money on them.

They said those who had no money on them were later allowed into the hall.

Some of the affected students urged JAMB to quickly investigate the matter.

At some of the JAMB examination centres, the supervisors declined comments while proprietors of the examination facilities debunked the allegation, saying they were neither aware nor involved in any collection of illegal fee.
