The Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) has threatened to boycott current sitting of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry (JCI) into the clash between the Army and the group in Zaria.
Chairman of the Commission, Justice Lawal Muhammad, today adjourned the sitting for another one week to resume on March 7, 2016.
IMN at a press briefing today in Kaduna accused the commission of bias, declaring that it would only appear before the commission if the leader of the Movement, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, who has been in detention since last December, is unconditionally released.
Speaking on behalf of the Movement, Dr Abdullahi Danladi, who read the statement signed by Abdulhamid Bello, the Chairman of Shuhada Foundation of the IMN, stated that the leader of the Movement should lead the Movement to the commission and not be held incommunicado while the commission is sitting.
The IMN called for “the re-constitution of the commission as it is set by the Kaduna state government which it described as an aggressor in the incident saying it is unjust to deny the movement representation in the commission.”
“The Movement declared to participate and have any further dealings with the judicial commission of inquiry and would consult and direct its lawyers on the next course of action in search of justice in this matter,” IMN added.
