Senator Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo
Immediate past Governor of Gombe State, Senator Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, has requested Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya to suspend forthwith, the payment of the monthly pension he enjoys as a former Governor of Gombe State.
Senator Dankwambo who now represents Gombe North in the red chamber, was also a former Accountant General of the Federation and was Gombe State Governor from 2011 to 2019.
He made the request in a letter dated 4thOctober 2023 but made the letter public on Tuesday 30thOctober 2023.
In the letter, Senator Dankwambo wrote the incumbent Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, requesting that his monthly pension of N694,552.82 being paid to him as a former Governor, be suspended.
The letter reads: “Further to my letter to His Excellency dated 28thSeptember 2023 on issues resulting to security allowances to Governors as per approval dated 20/09/2002, yours of 14/06/2019 and Executive Pension Act of 2007 (as amended) and other matters relating therein.
“I have interacted with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), integrity institutions, friends, and associations on the above and decided to hold and make a refund as appropriate”, he stated.
Senator Dankwambo also in the letter, denied enjoying any benefit in terms of furniture, medical, and transport allowances from the State Government as a former Governor.
He said, “Also note, that since I left office in 2019, I have never benefitted from any welfare packages be it medical, furniture, transportation, etc”. (Daily Independent)
