VIDEO of CBN Governor riding horse at Durbar makes waves on the Internet

Video recordings of one of Nigeria’s best known financial managers masterfully riding a horse during a popular festival in his hometown have making waves on YouTube despite being uploaded without publicity.

Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi is known to be passionate about the culture and traditions of his people but few people knew that he was conversant with the intricacies of horse-riding as part of the enthralling Durbar for which his people are well known.

Large crowds lined the streets, cheering wildly as Lamido, a Prince of Kano who holds the traditional title of Dan Majen Kano rode masterfully to the Durbar grounds last week Saturday, June 15, 2013, in honour of Alhaji Ado Bayero, who was marking the Golden Jubilee of his reign as the Emir of Kano.

Sanusi could be seen in the videos decked in his princely attire on a well decorated horse, acknowledging greetings from the excited crowd as soothing music from local musicians wafted through the air.
The three video recordings, each of which lasts less than a minute, capture various stages of the event and have been attracting much viewership.
