Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has confirmed the arrest of 13 persons, believed to be on the way to Libya to join the dreaded Islamic group, Islamic State for Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
Making the allegation on Tuesday, during a police-organised press conference at Bompai Police Headquarters, the governor said the suspects were not only a threat to their country of destination but were also likely threats to neighbouring countries like Libya, including Nigeria.
He commended the police for a job well and tasked them to continue on the same note of effective policing of the state.
Speaking also, Kano State Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Muhmmad Musa Katsina, added that the arrested suspects were in possession of fake travelling passports to Libya. He expressed fear that they had the potential of joining a terrorist group once they get into Libya.
