Okowa calls for synergy among security agencies •Pledges support to Obi Akaeze I

Delta State Governor, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa, has called on security agencies to partner with government in the maintenance of law and order in the state.

Governor Okowa said this on Tuesday, when the management team of the Nigerian Navy Logistics Command paid a courtesy visit on him in Asaba. He observed that synergy among security agencies in the state was key to fighting the security challenges faced in the country.

According to him, “This visit is important because it has enabled us to know more of your duties in the state; my office has been briefed concerning your partnership with the Nigerian Police and the Military in the Ethiope West region of the state towards maintaining law and order and we must appreciate you for it,” he said.

He commended the Nigerian Navy for the efforts they have made in the past to maintain peace in the waterways and their host communities stating: “There have been no negative reports about actions carried out that are not conducive for the members of the communities and to that effect I must commend you on the way you have executed your duties.”

The governor assured the command that government would look into the various requests they have made in order to function effectively.

Earlier, the Flag Officer Nigerian Navy Logistics Command Oghara, Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ofik, assured Governor Okowa that the command would continuously work with government and other security agencies to enforce the needed security in their host communities and the state.

In another development, Governor Okowa has lauded the successful emergence of HRM Agbogidi Chukwuka Noah Akaeze I as the Obi of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom in Aniocha North Local Government Area of the state.

Speaking when the monarch accompanied by the Chairman of the Council, Chief Isaac Anwuzia; the Regent, Prince Anthony Ofulue; relatives and Palace Chiefs paid him a courtesy visit at Government House, Asaba, Governor Okowa observed that though, the manner with which the immediate past monarch, HRM Edward Ofulue III passed on was condemnable, the successful emergence of HRM Agbogidi Akaeze I was a signal that Ubulu-Uku Kingdom was on the part of progress.

While noting that the Obi was still in school, which prompted the appointment of a Regent, he said that the Delta State government would give him, members of his family and his Kingdom necessary support.

Governor Okowa advised the Obi to be conscious of the fact that his people and members of his Kingdom are waiting for his return to apply his experience in leading them during his course of study abroad.

“We want to encourage you to know that as you study, you have your people back home that you would have to administer their culture and customs as their royal father and we hope that soon, you will be through with your studies and bring your experience to bear on the administration of your Kingdom,” the Governor said.

Governor Okowa use the occasion to assure the people of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom that those who were involved in the untimely passage of Obi Ofulue III would face the wrath of the law, disclosing that arrests have been made while security agencies were on the trails of others that were yet to be arrested.

It could be recalled that HRM Obi Ofulue III was kidnapped by kidnappers and in the process, lost his life.

Earlier in his speech, Obi Akaeze I thanked Governor Okowa, the government and people of Delta State for the show of love during the trying times of his Kingdom and called for support to enable him succeed as the Obi of Ubulu-Uku.
