Senator Magnus Ngei Abe, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Rivers South East re-run election, has appealed to his supporters not to retaliate yesterday’s torching of his Senatorial Liaison office at Bori, Headquarters of Khana Local Government Area.
Abe said in a press release signed by his spokesperson, Mr. Parry Benson, that the appeal became necessary to avert bloodshed, wanton destruction of property and anarchy in the area.
He told them to consider this singular act as a sacrifice not to turn their motherland into a theatre of war.
Abe accused Governor Nyesom Wike and the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state of being responsible for the mayhem.
“He wondered why Governor Nyesom Wike in his strategy did not turn Ikwerre into a theatre of war but chose Ogoni for his nefarious activities,” the statement said. “This, he said, was a manifestation of threats the governor and the party had been issuing of recent. He stated that hooliganism and violence was the governor’s brand of politics, pointing out that that type of politics has no place in the civilised world.”
Abe sympathised with families that lost their dear ones in the attack and prayed that God would give them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
He assured the people that the perpetrators of the heinous crime would be fished out by the security forces, adding that nobody was above the law.
