ASUU condemns demolition of UNIBEN buildings by Edo Govt.

The Akure zone of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has condemned the demolition of some buildings belonging to the University of Benin as ordered by Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole.

The zone encompasses ASUU members from the Federal University of Technology, Akure; Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, as well as Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti.

In his address at FUTA, the Akure Zonal Coordinator of ASUU, Dr. Alex Odiyi, described the demolition of the buildings as repulsive, as the case is still under adjudication at the Federal Court of Appeal.

He called on Governor Oshiomhole to allow the court process to run its course and live up to his promise to compensate the members of staff of the University of Benin who were affected by the demolition. (Channels TV)
