Confederations Cup: Brazil storm into semi-final, Mexico sent packing (Brazil 2, Mex 0)

Hosts Brazil this evening made a short work of Mexico to become the first country to qualify for the semi-final round of the ongoing Confederations Cup.

Goals by man-of-the-match Nemar and supersub Jo gave the Samba boys a comfortable 2-0 win and their second straight win after having beaten Japan 3-0 in their first match on Saturday.

Nemar whipped home a powerful left footer in the tenth minute of play during which the Mexicans were completely overwhelmed.

Though the Mexicans later recovered and acquitted themselves well for the rest of the game, poor finishing and resilient defending by Brazil robbed them of goals.

Just when everyone thought the match was over, Nemar dribbled his way through two defenders and laid for Jo, who masterfully fired home the second goal.

With this result, Mexico, who lost their first match 1-2 to Italy Saturday night.
