NYG 2023: Anambra harvests 5 medals as competition enters day 7

Anambra State contingent to the 7thedition of the 7thNational Youth Games (NYG) taking place in Asaba, Delta State has hit the ground running with the state winning five medals.

The medals won includeincludee, two gold medals in Taekwando Poomsae single through Chibuikem Oranye and Chibuikem Oranye Ogechi and Elechi in the team event respectively.

Anambra team also took the second spot in female Rugby, for silver medal while Ethel Jimoh won the second silver in Gymnastics Vault event.

The gold medalust in Taekwando, Elechi also took the bronze medal in individual Poomsae.

Speaking on the winnings, the state chairman, Sports Development Commission, Patrick Estate Onyedum hailed the team for their competitive spirit and feat at the games so far.

Onyedum said the youthful team had shown promise and that more gold would come to Anambra as the competition entered advanced stage.
