How we approach laurel carriers will define Nigeria’s future in sports: Sports Minister Enoh

The Minister for Sports Development, Sen John Enoh, has called on journalists covering the 7thNational Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State, to report the event as fairly as fairly as possible.

The Minister, who made the call during a press conference on Sunday, said that if sports succeeds in Nigeria, that journalists will be part of the history.

He noted that the beauty of every journalists beat is dependent on how it fosters unity of the country.

Enoh said that early exposure of young men and women is necessary for Sports development, hence the essence of the Youth Championship.

The Minister added: The journey ahead is a long one. We hope that we will be able to prove to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that the creation of Sports Ministry is a right step in the right direction.

Government will support the budding talented kids to the top as we make effort at discovering new talents.

While expressing hope that the president will at some point grace the occasion himself, he said that sports is considered an important part for national unity.

He added: How we approach the winner will define the future of sports in Nigeria but having the 36 states involved in a national sports event is a cardinal point on the future of sport.

Enoh reeled out the key elements of sports development to include infrastructure, incentives and incentives.

On the issue of using facial recognition as a means of screening athletes in place of NIN, the Minister said that an athlete has the right to object to it.

Responding to the question of lack of fund for the Wrestling Federation as earlier stated by the President of the Wrestling Federation of Nigeria (WFN), Hon Igali, he said that itemisation of different things that are peculiar needs to done ahead of time.

He however promised to push for it, saying that his ministry is desirous of making progress in that regard.
