The South East Zonal Representative of Judo Federation of Nigeria, Hon Darlington Nnanyelugo, has donated Judo equipment to athletes representing Anambra State at the ongoing 7th edition of the National Youth Games (NYG).

The equipment include four sets of Judo kits comprising of Judogi and Judo footwears.

He also promised a cash prize of N10,000 for each medal won by Team Anambra athletes at the ongoing NYG.

Nnanyelugo who urged the athletes to remain focused on their purpose for being at the championship event, charged them to maintain discipline as their watchword.

Responding on behalf of the team, the Director of Anambra State Sports Development Commission (ASSDC), Ms Faith Okwonna, thanked Hon. Maduba for the gift to the athletes and his support for Team Anambra which would go a long way in encouraging the athletes to put in their best at the games.

The Director who was represented by one of the team officials, Emeka Nrialike, described the gesture as the first of its kind to the team from any of the different sports zonal reps.

She gave assurance of team Anambras readiness to do exploits at the ongoing 7th NYG.

She added that Team Anambra would feature four athletes in the judo event comprising of two males: Chidubem Ekemezie and Emmanuel Ifedibasia; and two females, Helen Chidiogo Nwike and Victory Ezekanma.

Meanwhile, the combat sports event is expected to get underway on Sunday at the Multi-purpose Hall 2 (Ground Floor) of the Stephen Keshi Stadium Asaba, Delta State.
