Properties worth millions of naira were destroyed as fire gutted the famous Kano Singa Market this morning, a Daily Trust report said.

“The fire started around 3am and in a short time it spread to various shops destroying provision items worth millions of naira,” the report said.

It added that as at the time of the breaking news, men of the fire service were still battling with the fire in their efforts to put it off.

The report said that security has been beefed up around the market to stop thieves from looting properties of the affected traders, adding that police, civil defense and vigilante personnel have been deployed to the market.
