Nigerian fans applauding and supporting the Super Eagles team during a match
The first 5,000 fans at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Sunday will get free tickets to watch the 2024 AFCON Group A Game 6 tie between the Super Eagles and Sao Tome and Principe.
This is courtesy of the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, in a bid to ensure the Super Eagles get maximum support during the dead rubber encounter on the ground that hasnt been quite favourable to the three-time African champions.
Sports-loving Eno, who visited the Super Eagles camp on Thursday at Four Points by Sheraton Hotel, Ikot Ekpene, has already purchased 5,000 tickets of various categories for free distribution starting at 2:30 p.m. on the match day.
This is contained in a statement signed and made available to journalists on Friday by the Akwa Ibom State organising committee for the match.
To this end, match tickets have been released and will be available at designated centres across the state starting today, Friday, September 8, at N200 for regular, N500 for VIP, and N1,000 for VIP.
Nigeria, who have already qualified for the continental football showpiece, sit atop Group A of the qualifiers with 12 points from five matches, but they need to avoid defeat against São Tomé and Principe, who anchor the standings with one point, to finish as group winners.
The match will kick off at 5:00 p.m. (The Nation)
