The chief promoter of beach soccer in Anambra State, Prof Victor Madubuko, says his dream was to propagate beach soccer among sportsmen in the state as a choice sport category.

Chatting with Sports Writers in Nnewi, Madubuko said that activities for beach soccer as a competition would soon get underway in the state, after the inauguration of Anambra Beach Football Association.

He said the board would champion the responsibilities of developing Beach Soccer in the state and also ensure players get the best opportunities anywhere in the world.

The American-based Madubuko described Anambra State as one rich with budding talents, noting that the innovation would be another source of youth employment when fully developed.

The world is going Beach and Nigeria is fast keying into the development. Anambra would not be left behind.

We have big plans for Beach Soccer in Anambra. Personally, I have a vision of getting youths gainfully engaged in various ways, including sports.

As you know, Beach Soccer is about sports and entertainment, the two go hand-in-hand. Many people would be wondering how this will be possible since there is no Beach in Anambra.

The answer is that we have a permanent site which will be converted to an artificial beach sand pitch of international standard. Before now, we have been able to successfully organise a corporate Beach Soccer championship at Moonshine Residence, Nnewi, where we discovered so much interest of people for the sports, Madubuko said.

He added that the board was planning for a state league where players would be selected to participate in the Nigeria Beach Soccer League.
