EAGLES ON COURSE FOR WORLD CUP TICKET, snatch draw in Namibia (Warriors 1, Eagles 1)

Nigeria remain very much on course towards booking a ticket for next year’s World Cup in Brazil after the Super Eagles went to the Brave Warriors’ den and emerged with a precious point.

Still playing without team key strikers Emmanuel Emenike and Victor Moses – both of whom are not with the squad – the African champions pulled off a draw to take their points haul to nine from five matches and remain on top of Group F.

The Eagles dominated the game but had their backs against the wall when the Namibians took the lead against the run of play but the team fought back gamely, with full back Godfrey Oboabona cancelling the goal off a beautiful free kick four minutes later.

Nigeria remain a one-point ahead of Malawi, whom they host in September in the last group game from which they need just a draw to qualify for the last (knockout) stage en route to Brazil.

The Eagles, who remain unbeaten n 17 games, are expected to jet out for Brazil tomorrow for the Confederations Cup.
