Invest in your business, NBA President urges Nigerian lawyers

President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Augustine Alegeh (SAN), has advised members of the association to invest in their businesses for the sake of the future.

He spoke in Lagos at the official commissioning of The Juweirat Law Resource Centre, owned by the law firm of Synergy Attorneys with a Lagos lawyer, Abiodun Jelili Owonikoko (SAN) as its Principal Partner. “It is by doing this that the business will grow. I congratulate Owonikoko for this project and I challenge other lawyers who have not done this to emulate him,” Alegeh said.

In a goodwill message, the Deputy Chairman, Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, HRM Oba Dr. Abdulganiyi Adekunle Salau, Oloogunebi-Ajiese 1, The Aseyin of Iseyin Land, praised Owonikoko (SAN) for the accomplishment. Said he in the message delivered on his behalf by the Ogboye of Iseyin, Chief Collineius Odusola: “Barrister Abiodun Jelili Owonikoko (SAN) is not just a worthy son of Iseyin land because of the enviable achievements he has recorded as a frontline legal practitioner, nor because of his new achievement of building a standard legal chamber of international status but my association of him is based on a countless and highly commendable contributions which has made to his immediate professional constituency (legal profession), Iseyin community and humanity in general despite his youthful age.”

Conducting guests which included former Chief Judge, Federal High Court, Justice Abdullahi Mustapha, immediate past Managing Director of Diamond Bank, Alex Otti, Rickey Tarfa (SAN), Alhaji H.A.B Fasinro, Prince Olayiwola Kusamotu and Chief (Mrs.) Rita Lori Ogbebor, the host showed the guests Hon. Justice M.L Uwais Library, Alao Aka Bashorun Seminar/Arbitration Hall and Alhaji M.D. Yusufu Lecture Theatre, Owonikoko.

“We are particularly indebted to a number of leading lights in the legal profession and other walks of life, whose legacy we take pride in, four of them have been specifically deservingly identified for honour in this building we commissioned today,” he said.

Other guests who attended the commissioning included Professor Bamidele Kasunmu (SAN); Funke Aboyade (SAN), former General Secretary, NBA; Mr. Dele Adesina (SAN); Edo State, Commissioner for Works, Osarodion Ogie; Olori of Aseyin, Fatima Salaudeen Ajinrse; National Publicity Secretary, NBA, Gbolahan Gbadamosi; former Ogun State Commissioner for Education and Information Technology, John Olusegun Odubela; Edo State Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary , Wole Iyamu, among several other members of Inner Bar.
