Senator Shehu Sani donates N1m to victims of Kaduna market inferno

The Senator representing Kaduna Central District, Senator Shehu Sani, has donated the sum of N1 million to victims of the inferno at the popular Railway Station Market in Kaduna.

Senator Sani announced the donation when he visited the scene of fire incident yesterday.

Addressing the crowd at the market, Senator Sani also pledged to sponsor the education of the children of the man who died in the fire incident for two years.

He told the grieving traders: “The market is an historic market; no one living in Kaduna that has not benefitted from the market. So I am here to sympathise with you over the unfortunate incident that affected all of us in Kaduna South and not only you.

“As a Senator representing this zone, I have written a letter to the Minister of Transportation and asking him to send representatives to see things for themselves. The only assistance they can offer you is for you to relocate back to your original place.

“The place has been abandoned and now has been taken over by snakes and weeds. The best is for the management of Railway Station to relocate you back to your original place because this place is congested.

“As for the deceased who lost his life in the fire inferno, I will sponsor the kids for two years.”

Senator Sani appealed to the traders to do all they can to avoid future occurrence of such disaster.

The market authority thanked the Senator for the kind gesture.
