The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET) has made the following predictions about Nigeria’s weather condition for today, Wednesday, January 27, 2016:
NORTHERN STATES: Dust haze conditions are expected with visibility values of 1-3Km over Sokoto, Katsina, Zaria, Potiskum and Gombe while Kano, Yelwa and Nguru are likely to have poorer visibility values of less than 1,000m. Night time temperatures are expected to be in the range of 10-15oC.
CENTRAL STATES: Bida, Yelwa, Jos, Kaduna, Abuja, Lafia, Makurdi and Yola are also expected to have visibility values of 1-3Km in dust haze. Night time temperatures are expected to be in the range of 18-20oC.
SOUTHERN STATES: Oshogbo, Abeokuta, Enugu, Awka, Owerri, Ibadan and Lagos environs should experience moderate visibility values in dust haze. Coastal cities like Yenagoa, Port Harcourt, Eket and Calabar are expected to be misty in the morning and partly to cloudy during the afternoon period. Night time temperatures are expected to be in the range of 19-22oC.
NOTE: During this period of the year, the atmosphere is usually very dry, windy and dusty. Citizens should avoid substances that may ignite easily to reduce incidences of fire outbreaks. Flight operations may be disrupted due to poor visibility in some airports across the nation
