The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET) has made the following predictions about Nigeria’s weather condition for today,Tuesday, January 26, 2016:
NORTHERN STATES: Deterioration in visibility values of (1,000m) or less in thick dust haze should be experienced over Sokoto, Katsina, Kano, Potiskum and Gombe. Night time temperatures are expected to be in the range of 10-16oC.
CENTRAL STATES: Bida, Yelwa, Jos, Kaduna and Yola, are also expected to have visibility values of (1,000m) or less in thick dust haze. Abuja, Lafia, Makurdi and environs, should have visibility values of about 1-3km in moderate dust haze. Night time temperatures are expected to be in the range of 15-19oC.
SOUTHERN STATES: The inland cities such as Oshogbo, Abeokuta, Enugu, Awka, Owerri, Ibadan and the coastal cities like Lagos, Yenegoa, Port Harcourt, Eket and Calabar should experience moderate visibility values in dust haze. Night time temperatures are expected to be in the range of 15-22oC.
NOTE: During this period of the year, the atmosphere is usually very dry, windy and dusty. Citizens should avoid substances that may ignite easily to reduce incidences of fire outbreaks. Flight operations may be disrupted due to poor visibility in some airports across the country.
