The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET) has made the following predictions about Nigeria’s weather condition for today, Friday, January 22, 2016:
NORTHERN STATES: Most places are expected to have improved visibility values. Night time temperatures are expected to be in the range of 13-19oC.
CENTRAL STATES: Moderate Dust haze situations will prevail over Abuja, Bida, Nassarawa, Ilorin, Yola and Makurdi. Visibility over few cities may however be less than 2000m, especially Yelwa and Minna. Temperatures in the night are likely to be in the range of 15-21oC.
SOUTHERN STATES: Mist/fog patches are expected in the early morning hours over the coastal cities. There are prospect of light rain showers over Port Harcourt, Calabar and Yenagoa in the afternoon/evening period. Partly cloudy conditions are anticipated for the day over Abeokuta, Ibadan, Benin and Ekiti. While Enugu, Awka Obudu and Ikom should be hazy. Night time temperatures are expected to be in the range of 17-26oC.
NOTE: During this period of the year, the atmosphere is usually very dry, windy and dusty. Citizens should avoid substances that may ignite easily to reduce incidences of fire outbreaks.
