Gov. Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has reiterated his administration’s commitment to restructuring the civil service for greater productivity.

He spoke on Monday in Ibadan at the annual inter-religious service organised by the state government.

The service was to commemorate the New Year.

Ajimobi, who assured the workers that his administration would not retrench, said that the civil service would be restructured to allow workers perform at their best.

“Human capital development remains the corner stone of our administration. We will also implement more programmes to enhance the social structure of the state.”

The governor said that the state had taken pragmatic steps in boosting internally generated revenue by repositioning the revenue board and other agencies in the state.

“The Federal Government owes us three months allocation and we owe our workers two months’ salaries at present.

“We are working very hard to ensure that non-payment of salaries becomes a thing of the past soon.”

He said that his administration was poised to tackle ghost workers syndrome while it would renovate all offices and introduce the electronic registration to curb truancy.

Ajimobi urged the workers to brace up for the challenges of raising the bar of good governance in the state.

Earlier, Mr Soji Eniade, the Head of Service, said that the much desired hope in 2016 would come alive only if workers rededicated themselves to service delivery.

He urged workers in the state to be steadfast in achieving greater excellence.

Eniade said that the non-payment of salaries was not peculiar to the state alone, adding that the state government had approved 90 per cent of every monthly allocation for payment of salaries.

He also said government had approved the payment of 2014 and 2015 leave bonus.

“His Excellency’s kind gesture must be reciprocated by hard-work, diligence, commitment and loyalty.

“Unworthy elements, who violate government rules and regulations and are unethical in their conduct, will be shown the way out of service.

“Also, those who are found guilty of any act of misconduct that are criminal in nature will be prosecuted.”

In their sermons, Alhaji Rufai Bello, the Chief Imam of Government House Mosque and Rev. Francis Omolade, the Chaplain of Government House Chapel, called on the people to turn to God.

They both urged the workers to be diligent, committed, disciplined and righteous, saying such this was the only way to record successes and receive the blessings of God.
