The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET) has made the following predictions about Nigeria’s weather condition for today, Tuesday, January 5, 2016:
NORTHERN STATES: Dust haze will prevail in the area and visibility should be between 2-3km over Kano, Sokoto, Nguru, Kastina and Maiduguri. Night time temperatures are expected to be in the range of 10-16oC.
CENTRAL STATES: More dust from the North is expected to be transported to affect Abuja, Minna, Nassarawa and Makurdi thus reducing visibility over the areas to 2-3km, few locations may however be less than 1,000m. It is expected that night time temperatures should be between 10-18oC.
SOUTHERN STATES: Slight dust haze is expected to reduce visibility to 3-5km over Ikeja, Port Harcourt, Calabar, Asaba and Owerri. Ibadan, Akure, Oshogbo, Awka and Enugu should experience similar conditions as indicated above. Night time temperatures are expected to be in the range of 10-22oC.
NOTE: During this period of the year, the atmosphere is usually very dry, windy and dusty. Citizens should avoid substances that may ignite easily to reduce incidences of fire outbreaks.
