Dust haze to prevail in Maiduguri, Nguru, Kano, Kebbi, Yobe, Katsina, Sokoto, Yola; reduced visibility in Enugu, Abakaliki, P/Harcourt, Lagos

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET) has made the following predictions about Nigeria’s weather condition for today, Saturday, January 2, 2016:

NORTHERN STATES: Dust haze will prevail in the region with visibility ranging from 2-3km. Cities like Maiduguri, Nguru and Kano, Kebbi, Yobe, Katsina, Sokoto and Yola may likely experience further reduction in visibility within 1,000m or less. Night time temperatures should range between 7-15oC.

CENTRAL STATES: Moderate visibility in the range of 2-3km due to dust haze is expected. Night time temperatures should be between 9-18oC (degree Celsius).

SOUTHERN STATES: Moderate visibility in the range of 2-3km due to dust haze. Cities like Enugu, Abakaliki, Port Harcourt, Lagos may likely experience further reduction in visibility within 1-2km. Night time temperatures should be between 9-22oC (degree Celsius).

NOTE: During this period of the year, the atmosphere is usually very dry, windy and dusty. Citizens should avoid substances that may ignite easily to reduce incidences of fire outbreaks. Flight operations may be disrupted due to poor visibility in some airports across the country.
