Aki and Pawpaw’s popularity throughout the African continent continues to grow. Nigerians have been buzzing about a new game called Aki and Pawpaw Epic Run. Since its launch 30 hours ago, this game has received over 100,000 downloads on iOS and Playstore, making it the first Nigerian game app to be ranked number one in the world.
We hear their trademark exclamation, “Ewe,” as they sprint past danfo buses, and we see celebs like Cubana Chief Priest and BBN’s Nengi.
In an exclusive interview with Guardian Life, its creator, Charles Okpaleke (Charles of Play) revealed that this has been in the works since 2021. With his inspiration finding its roots in nostalgia, he said,
“Aki and Pawpaw has been a household name for over two decades. We want the new generation to enjoy what we have enjoyed with the Aki and Pawpaw brand. The ultimate goal is to keep the Aki and Pawpaw brand fresh and alive, spreading joy and laughter. Also, taking our creative industry to the next level.”
