The Nigerian Federal Government under the watch of Muhammadu Buhari is seriously considering some form of ‘soft landing’ for treasury looters who voluntarily return those monies to the nation’s coffers, according to the authoritative BusinessDay.
The paper in a story published today said that “reprieve is coming the way” of such repentant treasury looters.
BusinessDay quoted Femi Adesina, Special Adviser on Media & Publicity to President Buhari, as confirming to it that “those who make deliberate efforts to return monies would have some form of soft landing.”
The report comes on the heels of a rash of arrests, detention and the early stages of the trial of several key players in the immediate past federal administration of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan accused of having misappropriated public funds. Easily the biggest among them is former National Security Adviser, retired Col. Sambo Dasuki, who is standing trial before two separate courts and is remanded in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)
