A pastor and his wife have died while trying to rescue their 13-year-old son from drowning.

The family’s outing of Brazillian pastor, Felisberto Sampaio, and his wife, Inalda, at Camaçari Beach in João Pessoa, in the state of Paraíba, turned sour when they noticed their son, Ian, struggling in the water.

In an attempt to save the teenager, the couple had jumped into the ocean.

Unfortunately, the parents failed to reached their son in the river.

Ian, was, however, rescued by local fishermen and a family member, who then went back for the boy’s parents and pulled them into their boat.

Filiberto, 43, and his wife, 42, were provided CPR by paramedics before they were declared dead at the scene of the incident.
