Two suspected female Boko Haram suicide bombers have killed three Nigerians in a truck full of refugees in a town in Cameroon’s far north region.
The first bomb went off during a security check and it is unclear if the second bomber had detonated her bomb or whether she had been killed first by Cameroonian forces.
Boko Haram started in Nigeria but spread to neighbouring countries and is currently being fought by a coalition of regional forces.
The sect, which claims to be out to impose strict Islamic rule in multi-religious Nigeria, once controlled large swathes of territory in the country’s North-West but has since been pushed out by the military. It has returned to its original strategy of guerrilla warfare but Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has set next onth as deadline for the defeat of the terrorist group.
