Wanted Boko Haram chief nabbed in Adamawa

Another of the 100 Boko Haram chiefs recently declared wanted by the Nigerian Army is now in the net. Ishaku Wardifen was nabbed today in the morning by vigilant troops of 23 Brigade Special Battalion at a check point in Maiha, Adamawa State, Acting Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, said.

“Preliminary interrogation revealed that the suspected terrorist is a Cameroonian citizen. Visual matching with photographs on the poster of the 100 declared suspected Boko Haram terrorists wanted list released by the Nigerian last month, shows that he clearly resemble the suspect on serial number 22 on the list,” the Army Spokesman said in a statement issued in Abuja.

He said that the suspect has been handed over to military intelligence for further investigation and possible prosecution.

“Nigerian Army would like to once more call on all citizens and all well meaning residents of our country to continue to be more vigilant and security conscious to enable us rid our great nation of the menace of terrorism and insurgency,” Col. Usman said.

News Express reports that Wardifen is the second person on the wanted list to be apprehended in about 24 hours. Just yesterday morning, Chindo Bello was arrested at Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja, by Aviation Security as he was boarding Aero Contractors’ Airline flight to Lagos.
