The Vice Chancellor of Adamawa State University, Mubi, Prof David Shall, has been relieved of his post by the state government, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
A letter addressed to the vice chancellor and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Umar Bindir, on Thursday in Yola, said Shall was removed from office for alleged maladministration.
It said the action followed a report of a Visitation Committee set up investigate allegations of maladministration against him and the recommendation of a White Paper Committee set up to study the report.
According to the letter, the removal was with immediate effect and directed the vice chancellor to hand over to the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Dr Moses Zira Zaruwa.
NAN recalls that recently, some staff of the university petitioned the state government and the House of Assembly accusing the vice chancellor of misconduct.
The petitioners called for the suspension of the vice chancellor and the constitution of a visitation panel in line with the University’s Law to investigate the allegations. (NAN)
