Senate renames college after late Emir of Borgu

The Senate yesterday resolved that Federal College of Fisheries Technology, New Bussa, be named after the late Emir of Borgu Kingdom, Alhaji Haliru Dantoro Kitoro III.

In a motion brought before the Senate by Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdulahi (Niger North), the senators mourned the passage of the Emir, speaking warmly of all his good deeds during his lifetime.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu said that the late Emir “displayed kindness and sincerity.”

Senator David Umaru described the deceased as “a man of virtue whose kindness and friendliness attitude is incomparable.”

The Senate also raised a delegation to commiserate with the royal family, which is to be led by the Senate Deputy Leader, Bala Na’Allah, and to include Senators Abu Ibrahim, Danjuma Goje, Shittu Mohammed, Andy Uba, Oluremi Tinubu and other three senators from Niger State.

The Emir, aged 77, who was a former Minister and ex-senator, died in a German hospital on Friday, and was buried in New Bussa, Niger State, on Sunday.
